CARQUEST of Chelsea: O2 Sensors and Oxygen Sensors

Drivers in Chelsea rely on their car or truck's O2 sensor to keep the engine running efficiently. Your oxygen or O2 sensor enhances engine performance by being a part of a system that adjusts the amount of air to fuel ratio entering the engine and by first measuring the unburnt oxygen in car emissions. O2 sensors are standard for cars and trucks built after 1980. Most cars in Chelsea have an O2 sensor that should be replaced regularly.

The O2 sensor discovers the amount of oxygen in your exhaust and informs your engine's computer to adjust the fuel to oxygen ratio to keep your engine running at peak performance. A car or truck engine that "chokes or coughs" while driving at high speeds may need a new clean O2 sensor.

Narrowband and wideband are the two most common types of O2 sensors. A narrowband O2 sensor informs the computer if your engine is running a rich or lean mixture of oxygen and fuel. A wideband sensor measures how rich or how lean the oxygen to fuel ratio is. Call CARQUEST of Chelsea at 734-475-3741 or swing by the store at 405 N Main St and talk about your car's O2 sensor with one of our auto part experts today.

Every experience is perfect. Just today, my 1988 truck door latch gizmo breaks or is stuck. I exit truck but can't close the door. It's pouring down rain. I call local dealership where I have serviced and ask for a house call or at least help of some kind. They tell me to bring it in and they will look at but parts will take time to order. I am thinking "but it's pouring down rain and it's 55 speed limit on road into town." I hang up and remember how wonderful Chelsea Carquest guys have been since I bought this truck. I call tell them the problem and they tell me the "trick" to fix it--you need to pull the outside handle up (like you are opening it) in order the the latch to release and go back into place. I run outside in the rain, I try it and it works! Love these guys every time. Now I can go to work!. quotes-image
